A Belgian person has tested positive for the coronavirus, the country’s health officials said today. The person is the country’s first case of coronavirus, and is one of nine repatriated from the epicenter, Wuhan in China.
Eight of them tested negative in a series of test in the capital, Brussels. No details were given about the person who tested positive, but officials said they were in good health and were not showing any symptoms of the virus at the time of the tests.
The announcement comes as the death toll from the outbreak rose to 426. The first two deaths outside China were declared in the Philippines and in Hong Kong.
In Europe, France, Germany, Finland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and the UK, all have confirmed cases of the virus.
