A new strategic partnership between DJI, a leader in civilian drones and aerial imaging technology, and Rosenbauer International AG, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of fire-service vehicles and firefighting equipment, has been put into force on March 30 in a bid to make firefighting more efficient and safer.
‘‘The two companies will work together to bring the benefits of digital emergency response management to anyone involved in being called to tackle an emergency situation,’’ the DJI announcement read.
According to DJI, the partnership will allow the integration of aerial data into Rosenbauer’s operation management system, through which emergency crews on firefighting operations are provided with information like fire safety maps, hazardous material data or vehicle rescue sheets.
As a result, decision-makers of firefighting operations will now have access to additional visual and thermal data, information which ‘‘can then be relayed to operational units at the scene on a tablet or displayed on monitors back at the command center giving a full overview of the situation,’’ the announcement stated.
It also said that data safety is guaranteed as all information exchanged is ‘‘stored on a server in the highly secure computer center of a well-known European telecommunication firm,’’ adding that during deployment the data is synced with all mobile devices of the operational teams and kept in a closed loop.
Speaking about the partnership, CEO of Rosenbauer International Dieter Siegel said that ‘‘This cooperation with DJI enables us to consolidate our role as a digital pioneer while we work together to develop an integrated technology for comprehensive, data-based firefighting and disaster management.’’
President of DJI, Roger Luo, stated that the use of drone technology for the empowerment of firefighters’ emergency response plays ‘‘an increasing role in saving lives, time and resources on a daily basis.’’
