EU energy commissioner discusses European Energy policy in Denmark

EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson visited Denmark on 6 and 7 February as part of the Commission’s drive to promote the European Green Deal and engage with citizens and stakeholders.
Simson kicked off her Denmark visit in Esbjerg, a fishing town that h as transformed into a major energy hub. From this room, 1000 off-shore wind turbines in Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany and the UK  are controlled,” she tweeted.
Ahead of her visit, Simson hailed Denmark for being at the forefront of the EU’s clean energy transition. She said Denmark is an example for others to follow. “I am looking forward to seeing the transformation of the energy sector in practice in Esbjerg and Avedøre. My visit will also be an opportunity to discuss the European Green Deal with civil society and stakeholders, and a chance to explore how innovative Danish ‘cleantech’ can support further decarbonisation of the energy sector,” Simson said.
She also took part in a Citizens’ Dialogue with students at Aalborg University in Esbjerg.
