“We fought against coronavirus during three months. We took all necessary measures to prevent virus. Today, we received confirmation from two of our citizens. They arrived from Germany. They tested positive for coronavirus,” Birtanov told a press briefing, adding that it was a man and a woman. The first patient arrived on March 9, the second on March 12. Both patients were placed under hospital quarantine. Both citizens of Kazakhstan flew by plane. Everyone on board will be identified and quarantined, he said.
Two hours after the press conference, the Health Minister confirmed a third coronavirus case. “At the moment, we have received information about a positive test – identifying another patient who arrived from Italy, the city of Milan. This is a woman who arrived in Nur-Sultan on March 12. According to the current measures, she was quarantined the moment she arrived at the airport,” Birtanov said.
