A joint Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan auto assembly line of new Chevrolet brand models was launched at an automobile plant in Kostanay city in northern Kazakhstan, the Kazakh premiers press service said.
“This is a joint project of SaryarkaAvtoProm LLP and UzAuto Motors JSC. More than one thousand jobs will be created as part of the project. Several models of the Chevrolet brand car – Damas, Labo, Trailblazer, Malibu, Spark will be assembled on the new production line,” the press service said.
The cost of the Chevrolet Damas bus and the Chevrolet Labo truck will be about 3 million tenge (approximately $6,700), which increases their attractiveness for small and medium-sized businesses in trade, logistics, agricultural and other fields, the premier’s office said.
Automotive industry is one of the fastest growing industries in Kazakhstan. This year, the total production of the automotive industry is planned to be increased to 100,000 cars per year.
