Kazakhstan launches construction of 50 MW solar power plant in Almaty

NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan – Universal Energy’s foreign investors have begun construction of a second solar power plant in southern Kazakhstan, in the Ili district of Almaty Region, Kazakh Invest said on 7 February.
“A solar power station with a capacity of 50 MW is implemented jointly with Kazakhstan partners. The solar park will be located on an area of ​​140 hectares, the construction cost will be 13.1 billion tenge (1 dollar – 378 tenge). According to Universal Energy, commissioning is scheduled for the current year, which will make a significant contribution to the growth of the region’s energy potential.
Previously, Universal Energy implemented a project of a 100 MW solar power plant in the city of Kapshagai in southern Kazakhstan. Investors have installed more than 300,000 solar panels.
This year, 13 projects in the field of renewable energy with a capacity of about 700 MW are planned to be put into operation. Their total cost will be $856 million.
Universal Energy focuses on solar and wind energy, with offices in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Almaty. The total capacity of projects implemented by the investment company Universal Energy in conjunction with Kazakhstan’s renewable energy partners in Kazakhstan is 380 MW.
