Tokayev appoints Special Representative of the president for Afghanistan

NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan – Kazakhstan President Kassym – Jomart Tokayev appointed on 26 February Talgat Kaliev as the Special Representative of the President of Kazakhstan for Afghanistan, Akorda said. Kaliev was Ambassador on Special Assignments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“By order of the head of state, the ambassador on special instructions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Kaliyev Talgat, has been appointed as special representative of the President of Kazakhstan for Afghanistan,” Akorda said.
Earlier, on the sidelines of the 56th Munich Security Conference, Tokayev met with Afghan President Ashraf Gani and announced that Kazakhstan would establish the post of Kazakhstan’s special representative for Afghanistan.
