NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan – Central Asia has always been a strategic and commercial crossroads of civilisations between Europe and Asia, the text of the Central Asia Strategy by the US Department of State read on 5 February.
“Close relations and cooperation with all five countries of Central Asia will contribute to the promotion of US values and serve as a counterbalance to the influence of neighbors in the region. Finally, expanding business opportunities in the United States will contribute to economic prosperity in the region, as well as support employment and industry in the United States,” the new strategy said.
For its implementation, American authorities have provided more than $9 billion of direct assistance to maintain peace and security, democratic reforms and economic growth, as well as to meet humanitarian needs.
Also, about $50 billion was allocated in the form of loans, loans and technical assistance for the development of the region.
