Russia’s president Vladimir Putin said that the country has developed unique offense weapons. He added that Russia does not have the intention of starting a war with anyone, but instead aims to maintain “strategic balance” and “strategic stability” in the world.
“We are not going to fight against anyone. We are going to create conditions so that nobody wants to fight against us”, Putin said in an interview.
He added that Russia has created “offensive strike systems the world has never seen”, and which are forcing the United States to try to catch up. He also mentioned new “hypersonic offensive systems”, that became operational late last year and can fly 27 times the speed of sound .
Putin said that having these systems in place allows Russia to maintain strategic stability and strategic balance that the US tried to “upset” with their missile defense systems.
Putin’s three-hour interview marks his 20 years in power and is being released over a period of weeks in 20 parts.
