A 42-year-old external contractor to the European Parliament is the first victim of COVID-19 in the EU institutions, a spokesperson of the Parliament confirmed on Monday afternoon.
Concerning any underlined health conditions already known, no information could be shared by the spokesperson, due to personal privacy reasons.
The spokesperson had no information at that point on the employee’s country of origin.
A source told New Europe that the deceased worked in Brussels at the Parliament’s Directorate-General for Innovation and Technological Support (ITEC).
It also suggests that more colleagues of the deceased may have been infected.
