NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan – As of 5 March, Kazakhstan is temporarily suspending services at the ports of Aktau and Kuryk in the Caspian Sea for ships arriving from Azerbaijan and Iran and transporting people and vehicles with drivers due to the coronavirus outbreak, Kazakhstan’s Industry and Infrastructure Development Ministry said on 4 March.
“In addition, for crews of foreign cargo ships there is a restriction on exit from ships in the ports of Aktau and Kuryk. This decision was made in connection with the threat of coronavirus,” the ministry said.
Sanitary and epidemiological services will tighten control over the crew members of Kazakhstani vessels engaged in international transportation, when they change in ports.
“Information on these measures will be communicated to the maritime administrations of the Caspian littoral states,” the Kazakh ministry said.
