NUR-SULTAN, Kazakhstan – Kazakhstan intends to generate about three billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy from renewable sources of energy in 2020, the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nogayev said on 26 February.
According to him, the amount of green energy produced in 2019 increased by 80% in Kazakhstan. Today, the share of renewable energy in Kazakhstan in the total volume of electricity production is 2.3%.
“Twenty one renewable energy facilities were launched in 2019. Now the total number of renewable energy facilities was 90, with a total capacity of 1,050.1 megawatts (MW). In 2020, another 18 renewable energy facilities with a total capacity of 605.5 MW are planned to be commissioned. Following the results of 2020 renewable energy generation will be about 3 billion kWh of electricity,” Nogayev said.
